The Decatur
Genealogical Society will issue a "Macon County Pioneer Certificate" to direct
descendants of early residents of Macon County, Illinois. Our purpose is to
gather, preserve and eventually publish the information sent to us. Applicants
will be preserving the history of their pioneer ancestor(s) and letting others
know of their research.
ELIGIBILITY: Must be directly descended from an ancestor
who lived in Macon County, Illinois before 1880. Anyone can apply, no need to
be a member of DGS or a resident of Macon County. Upon receipt of the
application with proper costs, and approval of sources, a certificate will be
issued. The certificate for pioneers settling before 1850 will have a gold seal
with ribbon and those with a Pioneer who settled between 1850 and 1880, will
have a gold seal.
