APPLICATION FOR MACON COUNTY, ILLINOIS PIONEER CERTIFICATE

The Decatur
Genealogical Society will issue a "Macon County Pioneer Certificate" to direct
descendants of early residents of Macon County, Illinois. Our purpose is to
gather, preserve and eventually publish the information sent to us. Applicants
will be preserving the history of their pioneer ancestor(s) and letting others
know of their research.
ELIGIBILITY: Must be directly descended from an ancestor
who lived in Macon County, Illinois before 1880. Anyone can apply, no need to
be a member of DGS or a resident of Macon County. Upon receipt of the
application with proper costs, and approval of sources, a certificate will be
issued. The certificate for pioneers settling before 1850 will have a gold seal
with ribbon, and those with a pioneer who settled between 1850 and 1880 will
have a gold seal.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Complete the application to the best of your
ability. There must be an application filled out for EACH certificate.
2. Be
sure to sign permission release.
3. Be sure to list all women by their maiden
name.
4. Documented evidence for each person MUST accompany the application.
5.
There must be proof of each child to their parents.
6. Only one document (copy)
showing the earliest date of Macon County residency of the pioneer is needed.
7.
Please send COPIES ONLY as all material sent becomes the property of D.G.S. DO
NOT send original documents.
8. You may include additional information if you
wish. Attach extra sheets if needed.
COST: $15.00 for first certificate
requested on one pioneer.
$10.00 for each additional certificate
requested for same pioneer with original order.
